What should I take to Africa?

What shall i take to South Africa?

  • I'm going to South Africa during September. I'll be staying mainly in Durban - but what clothes do i take? I understand that it's spring, but not too sure on the clothing. Will it be 'tanning' weather so take shorts, vests etc. Or is there a 'nip' in the pring air so take jeans and t-shirts etc. Will i need a hoody/ coats? People have told me to take it all but I have to bear in mind that all this has to fit into a suitcase!!!! Please advise...

    Bring anything that you'd where in Spring/Summer at the beach. Durban can get quite warm. If by October you'll still be in Durbs, you'll need a few warm clothes as that is when the rain season starts.

Take lots of clothes you can layer You shouldnt need a bullet proof vest in Durban - just be sensible !

It should be warm enough to tan and wear shorts but it can be very rainy in September so bring some jerseys and long pants to. Best to be prepared.

For Durban - take clothing made from cotton and other breathable fibers. A few pairs of shorts, but do not wear really short shorts because you will attract a lot of unwanted attention. Bring a long skirt or dress, 1 or 2 light jerseys and a rain coat just in case. It can get very humid, but luckily you are missing out on the worst of it. It might be rainy, so rather bring a mix rather than just summer clothes.

Yeah it should be nice then as its on the East coast which has the warmer indian sea current, but you never can tell. On a whole it should be warm and sunny.

take it all, as much as you can though clothing is cheap to buy there. take stuff to layer, temps are so varied now, can be very hot and humid during the day and cool in evening. take short sleeves and cardigans, hoody and light jackets, do take a rain jacket, pack a light weight scarf.
