Which South East Asian country would you recommend?

Which country would you recommend to live and work in Southern Africa or would i be better off going overseas

  • Im a south african citizen wanting to work in the environmental/conservation industry. I have returned to SA from the USA after a period of 4 years.Im trying to figure out which country has a stable political atmosphere with low crime rates, would it be Namibia, Botswana or South Africa? Or should i just go over -seas to New Zealand,Australia,Canada or the UK?Which of those countries would you recommend? Please respond honestly and with no sarcasm please.... I would appreciate youre insight.Thank you.

If you look at the stability of a country as well as the crime rate - I would suggest that you rather look at Namibia although I am not sure what the availability of work is in Namibia. I do not know about Botswana - have heard that farmers are getting a new life there, but it is hearsay. As you already have the experience of working outside of South Africa, I would suggest that you seriously consider an overseas country as SA is not stable and the crime rate is high. I cannot really recommend (or not recommend) any of the countries you mentioned, but if I listen to other people considering overseas work, those countries features always. It seems people with IT skills choose Canada, technical people like motor mechanics and plumber etc choose New Zealand. I heard that Australia does not except South African Immigrant anymore - but it won't hurt to enquire - maybe it is only the view of someone that was not selected/accepted by the Australian embassy. UK seems to be a very expensive country. On 14 April, there is a seminar in Jo-burg for people wanting to go to New Zealand - I know other dates are planned for the other major cities in SA - look on the Internet.

The crime in SA is out of control. The main reason why we left is my wife was held up at gun point and a gun was stuck to my 3 year olds head. We now live happily and SAFELY in New Zealand. To stay in SA is like the frog in a pot story. Doing business is very hard with affirmative action and black empowerment. Corruption is absolutely rife. For your long term future reconsider looking at SA.....
