What should i take with me to south africa?

  • hi im going to south africa in 10 days, i dont know what type of clothes i should take with me(smart, casual, classy...) and if i need to take any particular medicine or anything more than just a normal packing?!?!!?!?? thanks

    Its their summer now. Take casual, smart casual, and if you are planning dining at a really posh place smart casual will do for most places. They are very casual with their dress there, because of the heat. Less is better to stay cool. A cardy just in case No medicine required. The medicall system in SA is very jacked up. Enjoy. Hope you going to Cape Town.

It's like Helen said...and I also agree about the malaria...the quinine made me sick, not the malaria. But that's only a risk if you visit the north eastern corner of SA. (Kruger Park and surrounding areas.) If you are planning on Cape Town...then you can pack another 2 jackets...dreadful weather down there (PS. I'm always biased when it comes to CT...I hate the place ;) ). If you are visiting the central, eastern and/ or the northern provinces you can also pack a raincoat...we've had some hectic rain so far. Don't bring too much cash, you can use your visa/ maestro debit/ credit card almost anywhere.

That all depends on exactly where you are going and what you are planning to do here. It is a big country. It is summer at the moment, so bring summer clothes plus at least one fleece jacket. The only special medicine you might need to take is for malaria prevention if you are planning to go to a malaria endemic area. Personally, I would rather get malaria than take the pills they make me very sick. P.S. Cape Town has winter rainfall, Durban has summer rainfall, and Joburg/Pretoria has rain throughout the year (and some exciting electric storms). We are having perfect summer weather in Cape Town at the moment.
