Which national anthem do you like the best?

  • Which of the national anthems of the world do you like the best? Personally, I love the South African anthem (even though I'm not from there). I think it's the best one out there (no disrespect to the other ones). It is such a powerful anthem and so much history is wrapped inside the words. And as it's written in 5 different official languages of South Africa, it gives the anthem a sense of belonging to all the South Africans.     My favorite is the South African one, it has so much history and incorporates the tolerance and acceptance the country represents. My other favorite one is the Italian one. I don't know what they are saying but they say it with so much passion.

Well, I love the South African anthem. I think it incorporates a beautiful hymn and a great poem. I actually just finished watching Invictus earlier this evening and I did shed a tear or 2 when the anthem was sung. I like the words of Die Stem, even though it was originally a song of oppression. But to wish a blessing over a continent, country and its people each time it's sung, that makes the anthem have true power. I do like the italian anthem as well though. It always sounds so regal.
