APPLICATION TO UNIVERSITY OF CAPE TOWN?

  • How hard is it for an undergraduate international student to get an admission at the University of Cape Town? Hi, I have applied to UCT and I want to study Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics. I heard that it is pretty easy for international students to be accepted at UCT but I am from the SADC group of countries and I will stay in Residence if I get a place. Would that affect my chance of getting an admission? Is it hard to be accepted in the department of Mathematics? The fact that I'm from the SADC group of countries means that I AM ELIGIBLE TO PAY SOUTH AFRICAN TUITION FEES OR LOCAL FEES but I am still an international student, which means that I will pay residence fees and I am not eligible for financial help (i will pay for my own tuition fees). Thank you.

  • Answer:

As an SADC student, you are seen as an international student thus you will be liable for international fees and will require a study visa. Pleae review UCT's website for confirmation of this information. Regarding your admission - as long as you have the desired level/results required for entry to the required course you should be ok. Please view this link http://www.science.uct.ac.za/apply/undergrad/requirements/ for the minimum admissions requirements.
