Im a 43 year old South African citizen. Its always been my dream to work in the UK as a caregiver, but I just do not know how to get invited/ sponsored? If I want to do this for a year or so do I first have to get citizenship?, because that would be very difficult Stephanie

Answer:
Unfortunately you may have to give up your dream. There are 3 ways for a South African to live in England. 1] Hold a first generation British or EEC passport. This would mean one or both of your parents were born in the United Kingdom or EEC and you have held a British passport since birth or a very young age. (This is what I have) 2] Hold a 2nd generation British Ancestral VISA. This would mean one or both grandparents were born in the United Kingdom and one or both parents hold a first generation passport. You have to be 21 to apply for a Ancestral VISA and have to have at least R30,000 in your bank account and proof of work. 3] Marry a British Citizen in South Africa and then move to the UK with them, Live there for a minimum of 5 years and then apply for permanent residency. No, I haven't forgotten about applying for a work VISA, but in order to do this you have to already have a job in the UK to work for and most jobs won't hire someone who doesn't have permission to work in the country. You're stuck in a catch 22 situation. And honestly, the chances of finding any kind of work in the UK is slim to none. There are no jobs going in the UK due to the recession and considering all the recent government cuts for public services, it' a miracle some people still have jobs. But hey, I could be wrong. Good luck trying...

Your chances are getting a work permit are virtually nil. Before any employer could offer a job to you they are obliged to offer the job to any suitably qualified EC citizen. With over 30 million unemployed across the EC you are at the back of a very long queue and it's very easy to fill what few vacancies there are..
