Is Kenya safe enough to travel to this summer?

Travelling from South Africa to Kenya?

• I'm going to Africa for the summer. I'm starting off in South Africa and travelling up to kenya. I'm aiming to leave johannesburg after the world cup - around the 11th/12th of July and heading up to Niarobi, where I am planning a safari and kili climb. Flights between the two parts seem very expensive (even keeping the world cup in mind) and I'm wondering what would be the best way to travel? Seeing as my schedule is very flexible at the moment, I'm open to all ideas, be it by bus, boat, etc. Plus, it might give me the chance to see other great areas of africa. Any suggestions?!

  Three words for you: bus bus bus. There is actually a really good bus network around Africa. It may be slow and unreliable at times but that's some of the beauty of your road trip. If you want organised chaos, travel on a truck tour like Asbolute Africa, Oasis, or DragoMan. If you want to really experience the life and times of the locals travel by bus. It may be painful at times but the scener, the people and the experiences you wil have will be second to none. Flying from A to B is quicker of course but flights are actually quite expensive and you dont' get to see the wonders of the country that the place is famous for. Road is definately the only way to go. The speed at which you travel is up to you. You can hire a 4X4 and drive you own pace, go on a truck tour, or take local busses. But on any of those options you will have the most amazing expereince and - even if you have to take another week or two off work to get around - you won't regret it.
