Have you ever taken off on vacation by yourself?

What is the best vacation you have ever taken from Dhahran?

  • I am looking for 5-7 day vacation trips throughout the year.

  • Answer:

.......drive to Bahrain and spend the whole week star gazing, drink in bars, watch movies, eating in good restaurants not found in Saudi, etc -- where quality of life is much more appreciated and enjoyed by any individual.......there should be a social time after long hours a week to refresh and unwind......it helps!

well i just moved so i don't really know the area...but back in jeddah we used to go practicly anywhere in africa, europe and asia...we travelled a lot to the states as well but i hate flying and the 20+ hour flights were a nightmare.... i'm guessing since you're time frame is limited that you're asking about local trips, i've had a couple of road trips and camping experiences in the Hijaz as well as 2 day trips in sea...all recomended if you plan it well, we don't have ready made maps with "tourist" info and professional guides like one would expect...so you gotta do your homework...(btwm there are a couple of books in jarir that has some good saudi trips and tips written by expats...check them out before you plan anything...they could've saved me a lot of trouble if i have found them sooner) you still can take short trips to near by countries if you wish...egypt, turkey, italy, spain, oman, morocco are a few that are worth it...great history, culture, museums, galleries, amazing food...if you haven't been yet, make sure you do.. one last advice: keep a travel journal and a loaded camera at all times...you'll end up with a priceless documentation of little details and info only you can truly appreciate and enjoy for years to come...

Well, I am from Jeddah but living in Dhahran. In the eastern area, there few places to visit, like for example “Ne’aeria” & “Aljubail beacth”. But in western region, there are many places to go to especially if you like water sports like fishing, diving and snorkeling. I remember on area close to Rabigh called “Hoanain”, we used to go diving and fishing there and I remember Italian and American guys came all the way from Riyadh to this area. For the central area, I don’t have any idea about the places to visit but you check these websites and you may have some ideas: A Virtual Tour of Saudi Arabia hosted by an American woman http://www.toursaudiarabia.com/index.htm...
