Would iran be a good country if it wasn't for islam?

the prophet of Islam have said: THERE IS PEOPLE IN PERSIA THAT WILL FIND SCIENCE EVEN IF IT IS IN CHINA (china means so far). Will you leave your religion, your believes even if everyone hates you? and Iran could have all of that it had when it was called Persia if king Mohammadreza wouldn't steal all it's rich and oil and he wouldn't be able if America wouldn't help him. but now, THAT America is U.S, that Persia is Iran and that Mohammadreza is in hell. so just let the past go. And for your information,if you read Quran, you will find out that Islam admires science and peace.

Iran's "problem" with other countries isn't Religion. It's their Nuclear program. Beside their nuclear program and stupid statements of Iran's president, Iran might just be criticized by western countries like other Islamic countries also. Islam isn't a reason of lack of modernization. Just look at other Islamic countries like UAE, Oman, Qatar, etc. (GCC).

obviously a good enough country to make the USA and half the world sh*t their pants, Islam is primative? maybe but what religion isnt, like the answer before me said, what about all the stuff christians have done? raping and killing natives, imperialism, enslavement, inquisitions, etc. Iran was almost free when we had mossadeq, but the USA and UK couldnt have that since their puppet Shah was in exile, they threw 15,000 dollars into the air, 15,000 dollars, and that was enough for stupid Iranians to jump over each other and a coup took place bringing back the shah, then after shah killed everyone, everyone wanted mossadeq back, and wanted to be a muslim and overthrow shah, now theyre muslim and everyone hates it and wants shah back, stupid f*cking middle eastern people are waaaaaaaaaay behind and are barbaric, its in our nature i guess, Iran now is like the 1960s of USA, and even with all those sanctions and everyone ignoring iran, they still supporting themselves so not too bad, Iran is a great country though, its not like its IRanians crashing planes into buildings or blowing themselves up anyways so why be pissed at us? Iran and Middle Eastern arab countries all crap, Egypt is Israels b*tch, Saudi is world oil whore, they would sell their mothers for money, Lebanon is Irans b*tch, we are all terrorists yada yada yada, but the real devils and murderers are USA, they give us guns and get mad when we shoot? i know i contradict myself alot
