Need some nice places to visit in Morocco over Xmas holidays.?
-
Hi, I am planning to go to Morocco over the upcoming holidays. Could someone tell me which are the places of interest for tourists? I checked some websites and they list a lot of places, however,my visit is going to be a short one , probably about 5 days. Should I book a hotel in Morocco or Agadir or Casablana??And what are the places to shop...I've heard that they sell some awesome fabric there...:)...Please help.

Answer:
Casablanca is huge and not really a touristy city. Agadir is a nice beach city, lots of restaurants along the beach, some nice souks and a good fish restaurant. Don't know how cool it will be there in December though. Two smaller cities, Assilah and Essaouria are walkable and picturesque, Essaouira is larger and has an ancient bazaar and thuya wood items, argan oil, and a lot of art for sale. Assilah is smaller and has a nice outdoor restaurant area, small shops, a beach, etc. Marrakech is more lively, especially Djma El Fna, although probably colder than the coastal areas. Tangier would probably be the best place to stay if you are going to Assilah for a day trip, and Fez and Volubilis is near by. There are hundreds of places to buy fabrics, many places in bazaars to buy all sorts of goods. Where ever you visit in Morocco, 5 days is not long enough and you will leave wanting to come back again.

You said "Should I book a hotel in Morocco or Agadir or Casablana?" I would hope by now you realize that Morocco is not a city. Anyway, probably Tangier, Essaouia, Agadir, Marrakech. Bring a good guide (like lonely planet). Do your own research. Go into the Medina part (old town) to find the fabric stores.

there are quite a few sites that you can search that will likely show you great hotels at the best prices available. check out the website BookMe and you will be able to compare prices on all the reputable travel sites in just a couple minutes. it's very convenient and will save you a bunch of time and money. Also, make sure you buy them online... otherwise they charge much higher fees for phone orders. good luck.
I would recommend Agadir or Marrakech. There is lot to do there and both cities are geared for tourists. Try this site: www.heymorocco.com for some ideas. Have fun!
