Hiiii :) I'm Half Moroccan and Half lebanese and i've been to loads of fantastic moroccan weddings. Moroccan weddings are soo much fun with lots of food and dancing. Firstly the day before, the bride traditionally get her hands and feet decorated with henna in a preety pattern. It looks realy nice on the brides hands on the day of the wedding! The venue for the wedding is usually a huge room which is decorated Moroccan style called a (salla). The bride would go to the reception in the common white wedding dress and would go to the 'salla' in her wedding dress. The bride and groom would sit in the front of the 'salla' in a big golden seats. They tend to look like a king and queen throne! There would be dancing and every so often the bride would change what she is wearing. She can choose how many times she wants to change but usually it is around 5 different traditional dresses. The dresses are traditional moroccan dresses such as kaftans. You would have a dj to play your favourite tunes. But there is also a small group of musicians called the '3rfa' where they play traditional moroccan music with traditional instruments. The music is amazing and gets everybody up and dancing. With this type of music people tend to dance in a type of way called 'Shikhat'. This means of lot of shimmey with the shoulders and hips! Also a very unique tradition of moroccan weddings is when the bride is lifted up in a '3mareeya' a circular cushioned seat which has a dome around it. The groom and his friends carry the bride around the 'salla' while music is playing. The food in Moroccan weddings is delicous! There is a starter of salad with boiled eggs and mayo. Then a first course which is roasted chicken with olives in a sauce ( a traditional north african dish) Then a second course of lamb with prunes. Then people are served with a bowl of fruit. After it is time for cake and usually guests would each come in with a huge platter of moroccan cakes and sweets. There is a wedding cake and everyone eats so much!! There is more dancing and cheering and singing and people are just so happy. All this stuff does cost quite a bit! But it is so worth it!!! Go ahead and plan your wedding...you are going to have such a good day and all the guests will love it! Good luck on your Big day :) If you need any more info or links to pics just email me :)

The Moroccan wedding is fantastic. It's very different from other weddings. I would suggest to have the wedding in either Marrakech or Casablanca. :) Good Luck.
