Being a mauritian would i be able to adapt and live in India?Another problem is i'm the only daughter for my old parents and i dt want to leave them alone in mauritius and knowing them they wont relocate. He loves to live in mauritius but he is holding back because of family ties..he is the elder son and he has to look after his family. Career wise In india he could join his dad successful business or work as mechanical engineer. In mauritius too he could easily get a job as mechanical engineer. We didnt tell any one in the family as we want to decide where to live first between us. Plz advise... Thank You

Like the others have said, this is a very personal thing which you and your husband to be have to discuss with each other. If you are going to take the family into consideration, then you are living for them and not for yourselves. (Well, sort of). Then, you must consider the level of earnings that you and/or your husband will be able to earn: is it better for you and your future life (think of pension and old age and children and buying a house etc) to work and live in Mumbai, or better in Mauritius? Who will be the main breadwinner in the family? You or your husband? What is the future like for your children in Mauritius? And what is it like in Mumbai for them? What do you expect from yourselves in your new life together? Both of you working? Just the husband working and the wife stays ant home and looks after the children? What kind of lifestyle do you expect? These are things that only you and your husband can decide for yourselves. My husband and I are also from different continents, me from South Africa and my hubby from Europe. We have spent a great amount of money moving back and forth from the two places. Sometimes it was more important for us to live in Europe, then it was a move to South Africa, then back to Europe. A lot of money goes into such intercontinental moves, each time one has to start over from the beginning with looking for a job, getting a decent place to live, finding new friends. In the end, our parents have passed away, and WE are now the ones who face the financial turmoil that we have created. Our children have moved out and created their own homes. And we are still living between two continents. It is a lifelong indecision where to live. But, we will never have the best of both worlds. We had to make compromises, and so will you have to. This is why I say, think about it, and decide what is best for YOU, not the parents. Never rely on anyone to look after you when you are old, that is up to you to save for your pension.
