Lebanon Category: What makes people start smoking?

some people think it makes them cool and then they get addicted

why would anybody do anything that they know is bad for them? its one of three things... 1- peer pressure 2- curiosity/experimentation 3- despair this applies to everything in life....think about it

Yeah, part of it can be 'pressure'. Maybe someone's peers teased them into it, or they felt really stressed out and needed something to turn to. Some people grew up with parents who smoked, so it only seemed natural. Some of my friends in highschool did it mostly to make their parents mad, or used it as an appetite suppressant. I was addicted for about 3 years in highschool (but not anymore, thank goodness), and I had started because everyone I knew smoked. It only takes a pack to start becoming addicted, and most people don't really beleive that they could lose control to an addiction so they continue until its too late.

Well I tried smoking twice: First time i took one from my friend i was curious to try it out. Second time my mom was driving on the highway and she told me to get her a cigarette so i lit the cigarette for her ..but i got bitched out lol

Stress and friends... of all my friends I was the last to start...a year later btw...so mainly stress Never thought it was cool btw

It's wanting to do what the crowd does. One summer in Lebanon, I was 14 and I saw everyone around me smoking. So I went and bought my first pack of cigarettes. Since than, I've smoked every summer I was in Lebanon, but never got into it in America (where 8 $ a pack isn't pleasing and you get enougn anti-smoking ads anyway). It's not really much of an addiction, but I think its only because I do it 1-2 months once 2-3 years. If I had stayed a smoker in the states, who knows. Most people smoke to look cool, for some it relieves stress (didn't do a damn thing for me haha), others under pressure but w/e the reason everyone knows the problems that smoking can cause and so why get yourself into those problems?
