Airlines that go from New York to Beirut, LB?

Hi, I have a friend who lives in Beirut. I would like to go visit him...but I'm not sure which airline to use. As far as I know....there aren't any non-stop flights from New York to Beirut (.....or are there???). Anyone who has had experience traveling from New York (or anywhere in the US) to Beirut (or vice versa)....which airline did you use? And how much did a round trip flight cost? Thank you in advance!

You're right in that there are no direct flights. Best I know of with a decent airline is from JFK via Abu Dhabi with Etihad but it take almost 22 hours. The shortest flight is also from JFK but with Turkish Airlines via Istanbul. Takes a little over 15 hours. Cost-wise there is not much in it, it depends what date you want to fly. Turkish Airlines I don't recommend though. You can see more options at http://www.expedia.com
