Is a big problem, a catastrophe coming to Lebanon with the events happening in Syria?
-
I feel if the assad dictatorship falls millions of Christians and alawites will be comming to Lebanon, i fell the assad regime is bad and they murdered sheikh pierer, rafic, samir kassir and all the other martyrs who died in the intifada against syria and I believe syria killed danny chamoun, and was as bad for lebanon as israel, but i feel those who want to take his place are salafits and crazies. and like fatah el islam type, and i support mustqbal and shiekh saad hariri, but I think the best thing now is that assad stays in power, because the alternative will be very very bad for lebanon and the whole region, is this right or wrong ?

Answer:
I agree on the part of if Assad leaves power worse people may come. About the people who got killed, it's still unsure who killed Sheikh Pierer, Rafik, Samir, etc. so we shouldn't judge and say who were the killers and who weren't. However, the people of Syrians should decide who they want to rule their country. That's how a democratic country should be.

Assad stay for power until when? then what? Let his brother inherit his throne after he eventually dies, then what? The change is inevitable. Even if millions of Christians do take refugee in Lebanon ( unlikeley) as a Muslim, I think that'll be a good thing for Lebanon and it'll restore the lost sectarian balance of Lebanon, keeping Lebanon diversely beautiful. Why are you so pessimistic? Don't believe their propaganda and scaremongering tactics, with the fall of Assad, Hezbollah will fall in Lebanon, which can never be but great for Lebanon.

I think Kate , Aussie and Sidon have good points

It seems to be worsening by the day & if it escalates to a full blown civil war similar to Libya then the danger to Lebanon is that you won't be able to protect your borders from a surge of refugees.. Then what ?
Aussie
first of all ur history is all wrong it is samir geagea who killed dany chamoun and it was usa who killed rafik hariri second of all Dr Bashar the brave leader and president of Syria will never fall down he will kill all these insurgents and terrorists and Syria will be back more stronger than before

Its very funny how the lebanese condemn without a single proof, all I know is that neither lebanon nor the whole area is going to be in peace with all the events going on...everybody should pack and leave, get a better future for your kids for heaven's sake...

Pessimists like lord are causing all the problems in the Middle East, you should be loyal and patriotic to your country in ups and downs. People like him or her or it are ignorrants and they should have a hope and faith in their country.
