What would u do if you were to go to kenya now?

What should I expect when I go to Kenya?

  • I am going to Kenya in a little bi, and I would like to know what to expect. Currency, prices on things, and basically what it's like. We will also have an 8 hour layover in Amsterdam, Netherlands. It would be nice to know what to expect there too. We will be taking a 2 hour tour on train. Advice, tips, and what to bring would be nice!

  • Answer:

First of all,the Kenya currency unit is the shilling (KSH), divided in 100 cents. One US dollar equals about 65 Kenyan shilling, one Euro is 95 shilling, and 1 British pound is about 125 shilling. I'm not exactly sure about the prices on things, however, the shop owners tend to hover and are very persistent, so don't be surprised. Blond people, and white people in general, are the minority and so draw lots of attention. The weather in the summer is dry, very hot around mid-day and cooler later in the evening and in the morning. Bring sunscreen, drink lots of water, get malaria pills and your yellow fever shots. I'm not sure of the weather in the winter, spring, or fall. I don't know any thing about the Netherlands though. Hope this helped.
