What do you think of Kenya?

What do you think of a 16 year old boy going to Kenya?

• Okay so heres what's going on. This summer a friend with Me To We told me about this trip he's going on to Kenya for three months, i cannot go for three months though but would like to go for one. My reasons behind this are because i hope to be a youth speaker and/or youth coordinateour for Free the Children or Me To We after highschool. I'll be accompanied by a friend whose 21 years old too. My family though doesn't want to send me still because they think it's unsafe when the crime rates here (Canada) are higher, then they think i'm too young but Craig Kielburger was 12 when he went to travel India and this is something i really want to do and i'm really passionate about. So i'm asking you for your opinions and if you think i should go, some points for how i could get my family to agree, thank you!

  Ok...i will agree that u are really young and u may need to have an older person with you. But if you get a good tour guide here it will be fine...About the desiases...just take all the recommended shots and u will be fine. Diarhoea is not because of dirt only...i get it everytime i go to a new place..its just that people prepare food in different ways. Just drink bottled water all the time...i mean..im kenyan and i drink bottled water. And no war is going to break out anytime soon...unless you are intending to go to the north-eastern province where they have cattle rustlers. What you really should be worried about is theft...your phone,fancy camera, bag...whatever it is..if u go walking late in the night in the wrong part of town it will definately be snatched away from you.Hell, they snatch stuff from anyone not just whites.PS: My boyfriend is white..has been around for a year and hasn't had anything stolen from him because i showed him which parts of town to stay away from..its simple really. Most Kenyans speak English..mostly good...maybe average in the villages. So anyway..if u will have someone else with u on the tour-a native-..then yes..if its just the two of you....think about it some more.
