What are the advantages of tourism in Kenya?

What are the side effects of tourism in kenya?

  • i need to know what the good and bad effects of tourism in kenya?

  • Answer:

I spent a month living in Kenya and I found it to be very tourist friendly. The only problem is that people in Kenya that aren't so well off do know that tourists have money - so they will put their prices up, and I would watch your wallet and that sort of thing. In terms of the way tourists are treated though, it is very positive! I never had any trouble there, I was working as a volunteer and I would say I got a lot of attention as a young, white female - but it was never intimidating or malicious. Kenyan people are very sociable and welcoming, especially to foreigners. I loved my time their and the time I spent with the people. The only bad thing I would say is that if you want to visit Masai people, they do not seem very genuine any more - most will give you a tour of their village and explain their way of life but will expect you to donate money to their school, or pay very very high prices for small souvenirs. I think the cash flow tourism is causing is taking out some of the charm of what makes the country so different from the west. I hope that helps!
