I am travelling to nairobi on sunday is it safe to go?

I live and work in Nairobi. The said chaos is rather overated and is concentrated in the slam areas. For the past two days we go to work in the morning and release our staff by noon so they may not get caught up in the riots. I would say it is still safe to travel to nairobi so long as you donnot venture down town (The eastern side of Moi Avenue.) and use Langata road instead of Ngong Road. The very risky ares are Kisumu, Eldoret ,Kericho and Nakuru which are hundres of kilometers away from Nairobi.

Yes, its safe to come to Nairobi. Highways to and from the airport and the city environs are safe, save the slum areas which I doubt you want to go to! Take precautions and be alert and stay east of Moi Avenue. The violence being displayed by the international media is centered in some areas and is not widespread as may be perceived from their reports. The protests end today so Sunday should be ok. Well, actually I am American and I have been living in Nairobi for like a year and a half. I'm sure you've heard about the violence and riots....it is really bad.....but the media kind of exaggerates what reallly happens. It has gotten a lot better, but it's really sad because so many people has died. If you come a lot of things will be slower...like service. GOOD LUCK!!!

Foreigners are not the targets of any attacks in Nairobi but the overall situation in the city is not good. Planned protests are going to continue for 2 more days but no one knows when the violence will stop. If you can put off your trip for another few weeks, try to do so. If not, use extreme caution when out and never go out by yourself or at night.

yes currently its quite safe although sometimes there are a few minutes of demonstrations but the police are usually in control. Although while in Nairobi avoid the slums and inner city locations because this is where the violence originates. otherwise life goes on as normal. Everything is operational.

watch out for card board boxes on the sidewalk as they some times have guns or knives. you look stupid getting robed by a box
