    Kenya's economy is market-based, with a few state-owned infrastructure enterprises, and maintains a liberalized external trade system. The country is generally perceived as Eastern and central Africa's hub for Financial, Communication and Transportation services. As at May 2010, economic prospects are positive with 4-5% GDP growth expected, largely because of expansions in tourism, telecommunications, transport, construction and a recovery in agriculture. These improvements are supported by a large pool of English speaking professional workers. There is a high level of computer literacy, especially among the youth. The government, generally perceived as investment friendly, has enacted several regulatory reforms to simplify both foreign and local investment. An increasingly significant portion of Kenya's foreign inflows is from remittances by non-resident Kenyans who work in the US, Middle East, Europe and Asia. Compared to its neighbors, Kenya has a well developed social and physical infrastructure. It is considered the main alternative location to South Africa, for major corporations seeking entry into the African continent.

So poor...C'mon? Okay to answer your question...blame the corrupt government! We can maage our reources if we had a effectivve government that is not based on certain families. I mean we have been ruled by specific families since independence. Key positions in the government are held my related people either related by blood or even business

The corrupt governments in most of the African countries are to blame. They do this for so many years, no wonder at the recent African summit, no African leader took any action against Mugabe or Ghadafi. Is because most of the African leaders are presidents for some 20 years and they put only their relatives in key positions. Then they have Swiss bank accounts where to keep their savings, if something goes wrong in their countries. Instead of stealing the money they could use in in education/health etc. Even the money they receive from European charities get back to Europe, as they use it to send their families there.

kenya is more corrupt than the uk, also, the kenyan male is lazy, their women do most of the work,as well as all of that, they seem unable to learn and they keep having children.

Kenya is poor in the midst of plenty. Kenya is under a tropical sun which means variety of plant/food is present thus, they can fight poverty. But business has been horrible. There is simply no way she can hide that for the same price she is selling bundles half the size they were a few months ago. Also, THE government may be Corrupt.
