When is the best time of year to go on an African Safari?

Best time of year to go to Africa on safari?

  • Answer:

If it is Kenya, and you want to see the famous migration and crossing of the Mara River by millions of wildebeast and zebra then I would recommend August and stay at the Serena on the Masai Mara. It is only a few hundred meters from the Mara River. If you want to see baby elephant, lion and such then April is a good month. But stay in the eastern side of the Masai Mara during this time as the rains make things mucky in the western part. April is also good if you like the park to be green.

I do hope that you mean to "shoot" only with your camera. May I suggest that you take the advise of the Embassy of the Republic of South Africa in your country, for more practical advise? I really wouldn't reccommend other African Countries because that's a very volatile place. Cheers, MG

July to December and January to March each year. June is also good though some parks grasses are still high for viewing wildlife and camping. April and May there is heavy raining
