What should I wear on a Kenya Safari?

  • In august, I will be going on Safari to Kenya and I'm not to sure on what to wear. I have some light brown, zip-off trousers/pants, and was wondering what kind of shirt I would need. Preferably one that could be tucked in for the evening to look smarter.

    It can get quite cold in Kenya in August and you may even experience rain during your safari. What you have sounds fine but you should also consider bringing a lightweight jacket for early morning and late afternoon rides. And don't worry about the colors you are wearing. If colors were going to scare the animals away, I think the sound of a 4wd vehicle passing through would do the job first. The animals you will see are used to safari vans/trucks driving around.

A light blue shirt in a lightweight cotton should not only look smart with those pants but also keep you cool. Absolutely avoid white & other bright colored clothes as they can scare away the animals. Have a great trip!
