Is peace between Israel and Hamas possible?

How is Israel supposed to talk peace with Hamas when they even refuse to recognize Israel' existence?

  • ... how would you negotiate with anti-semitic organization that wants to wipe you off the face of the earth?

  • Answer:

Israel can not be recognized my dear friend. It has no defined borders It treats the non Jews in inhumane way It doesn't respect the International Law It practices colonial occupation It is run by war criminals It doesn't recognize the existence of the Palestinian people, nor it recognizes their rights in their own lands, nor their right to have a state of their own Why should the Palestinians recognize Israel then? I wouldn't

I think the whole "they are trying to wipe us off the face of the Earth" sort of gets formed as moot by "we're trying to wipe them off the face of the Earth. The only difference is that we are doing a better job at it". It's quite easy to blame Hamas for all the problems, but the Israeli Government doesn't seem to be helping any sort of situation. Would it be appropriate for me to liken this to Catch 22?

Israel expects Hamas to recognise Israel including all of its occupied land something even the rest of the world have never done The official state of Israel comprises of Israel WITHIN its 47 borders. No more and no less If Hamas were offered to recognise Israel within its real borders then they may just do it Edit. The larger the land thats ocupied the harder it becomes to defend it . A simple fact that you seem to have missed.

Does israel recognize Palestine as a state, then ,why Hamas should recognize israel.Talking peace is the way to solve all the problems including existence....etc.

Stop, think and take in the information around you for a minute. Why is everything about Hamas? Have you ever realized Palestinians are also represented by Fatah in the West Bank? The West Bank is an independent territory under the control of Fatah, who have consistently tried to make peace with Israel, yet Israel consistently builds illegal Jewish settlements in Fatah, steals Palestinian land, and segregates the whole area. If Israel really wants peace, then why do they not make peace in the West Bank, when the West Bank clearly has a government that wants peace with Israel? Think about that for a bit please, because Israel is not just fighting with Hamas, it is also fighting with Palestinians in Fatah controlled West Bank.

Recognition is all Israel needs from negotiations, and Israel should not think they can have it just like that. The Israelis should give the Palestinians all what they want, as they are the legitimate owners of the land Israel is sitting on, before they ask for recognition. Recognition can be officially exchanged after signing the agreement, and it can't be set as a precondition.

I don't know. Israel, at the very least, as discussed such things, but Hamas has yet to ever express their desire to act civilly towards Israel. Really, Hamas' entire existence is based off of Israel-hatred, so peace might not be something appropriate for them to consider. If I were Israel, I wouldn't even bother with Hamas, and just deal with Fatah. I think that giving them what they get, as deemed by Israel, is all they deserve if they don't want to talk or discuss.

This a redundant question. One, Israel doesn't need hamas to recognize it as the whole world and the U.N. recognizes Israel. Israel often uses the recognition card to thwart or slow down negotiations. Hamas leaders have repeated many times that should Israel stop breaking international law by building on occupied land, stop the harrassment and oppression of the Palestinian people that they would begin peace plans but Israel has absolutley no desire or wish to ever give Palestinians freedom or an independent viable state.

this is more of a statement than a question. and there are so many things wrong with your statement i cant even begin to explain.

I recognize the people that are now Israeli citizens, including its 20% Arab populace. I don't recognize the crazies in Gaza called Hamas and the people there and in Judea and Samaria that overwhelmingly elected them. You can't talk peace with a crazy or drunk person who is on a rant or a rampage, you just wait for them to "sober up" or cured of their ill. I don't see why they should be riding on the backs of people that actually do want to talk peace. Because one person in the party wants to talk peace doesn't legitimatize the other person as automatically capable of talking peace, or by one person's action or inaction that is the reason they remain hostile or seek hostility. Each person is responsible for their own little "bubble" of the world, and by the other person saying "i don't recognize you" doesn't give them authority to be hostile, but only on physical attack or threat of, is that warranted. Life isn't a popularity contest, people don't have to like you, they just have to respect according to the minimum mode of human decency. Basically saying, "i don't recognize you" is a form of insult. It's neither here nor there whether you exist by their ideas, you know you exist. That's not what bothers me when Hamas and their followers speak of such matters, it's what they additionally say. Those things like "we will wipe out the children of Zion down to the very last one." Now, that is not cool and it's quite dangerous to attempt negotiations with a person of that caliber. Hamas came into power during the Bush-Sharon administration, and it was this same administration that tried to negotiate their way into a peace agreement (Disengagement 2005) that granted the territory in Gaza which Hamas now uses to launch their rockets. The changing of our guard still doesn't change the fact that Hamas is a terrorist organization that still represents what the "Palestinian" people themselves have overwhelmingly elected, and poll after poll shows their Arab hostility towards Jews, that they overwhelmingly believe in what Hamas stands for. So let this be a lesson on what not to do. Civilized peoples do not negotiate with terrorists!!!! There is a good reason for that... it is dangerous. I warn that there should be no place on earth where terrorists can rest and train and practice their deadly skills. I meant it. I said that we would act with others if possible and alone if necessary to ensure that terrorists have no sanctuary anywhere. Tonight, we have. Ronald Reagan We do not deal with Hamas. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Under current circumstances, I don't see any change in that. -McClellan, Bush2 Administration: We do not negotiate with terrorists. We put them out of business. -McClellan, Bush2 Administration: I have never supported engagement with terrorists. - Barack Obama
