What is your favourite pet?

What are Israel's favourite pet, or anyone here, not just Israeli?

  • In England, everyone loves dogs. I was wondering, in Israel, what is the favourite pet? l love cats myself, and if I lived on a farm, I think I would keep Llamas and camels. But by far the cat is my favourite, they are sweet, cuddly, and loving, but independent at the same time, and you don't have to take them for walks, and they are clean. Just a random question really, because I am tired of all the negative rubbish and hatefulness here. Something light and friendly was in order I think.

  • Answer:

I like cats, and I own (or should I say "serve") one (a long-furred non-specific breed). I know many people in Israel who own dogs.

I think most Israelis favor dogs, as there are too many cats in Israel running wild... Personally, I prefer cats; they are intelligent, they can 'read' their owners and sense how they fell, and they are simply beautiful!

Dogs are despised in the middle east. You don't see much of them in Israel and almost never in arab counries. I saw weimeraners in Israel.

Some of the world's most beautiful salt water fish come from the Red Sea. I would have tanks full if I lived there.

The Israelis are far too busy protecting themslevs from Muslim terror to worry about a favorite pet. But the violence of the "good terrorists" agianst the "bad terrorists" is perhaps more pronounced. On the second anniversary of the Hamas military takeover of Gaza, PA (Fatah) TV broadcast a public Fatah event held in the presence of senior Fatah leaders, which focused on intense vilification of Hamas. This included the showing of a graphic video of Hamas members brutally beating a Fatah member in Gaza. The screams of the victim can be heard in the video, along with others calling "Allahu Akbar" (Allah is Great). The Fatah moderator introduced the video with the following words: "Hamas's name is written on every arm and leg which was crushed by their [Hamas's] acts of terror." The Hamas - Fatah hatred is very deep and this intense hate propaganda is typical of the current Fatah - Hamas relations. This animosity has led to the arrest of numerous Hamas members by the Fatah-controlled Palestinian Authority. This is important to note, as these arrests have been mistakenly reported in the press to be a sign that the Palestinian Authority is fighting Palestinian terror on behalf of Israel. Offhand, when I was in Israel (already 15 years ago) I only saw one cat which was actually not a stray. There are numerous cats there, all stays and they all hang out by the garbage bins. I did see a few dogs while I was there, all of them owned. True story that I heard 3rd hand: Someone from where I live was visiting Israel and found a stray cat by the garbage dumps that they wished to adopt. They went through the whole complicated process of importing the animal into the country and when they finally got home, the cat was very nasty to them and eventually ran away.
