Is this another stroy about how Arabs "defeated" Israel?
-
Arabs are fond of telling the surprising stories about the Giant Bird Ruch, angels throwing stones at Jinns, Sindbad and his traveles, about how Arabs "invented" all the possible and impossible things , from algebra to Coca Cola - and about how Arabs "defeated" Israel in all wars. One of the variants of this story is about how Arabs "outsmarted" Mossad in the 60s. In the 50s, the Egyptian spy was captured in Israel. To avoid the life prison, he agreed to work with the SHABAK and became the double agent who passed tons of the false information to Egypt in the course of the Operation Yated(A Bet) and was one of the main factors of Israel´s victory in the Six- Days War. His name was Rifat al Gamal. Under the control of Shabak, al- Gamal(his name in Israel was Jaque Biton) sent to Egyptian Intelligence the photos of the Israeli military bases, tanks and other military objects. Egyptians considered him as one of their best agents. The crown of the operation became the information passed by al Gamal to Egypt on the verge of the Six-Days War that Israel will start the war with the ground operation. Due to this “precious information”, Egyptians left their planes without the due protection on the airfields. They were destroyed by Israel in three hours leaving Egyptian ground forces defenceless before the attacks of the Israeli aviation. “He saved us the rivers of blood, said Abraham Ahituv, the head of the Arab department of the Shabak in the 60s, he alone was worth a division”. Like it is usual for Arabs, they immediately created a beautiful story about the “heroic Egyptian man who fought against the Zionist enemy” . One of the main squares in Cairo was named after him and the TV serial about the “brave Egyptian who infiltrated into the den of Mossad” was a hit in Egypt. Even after Israel unclassified the information about Rafat Al- Gamal, the Egyptians went on telling stories about the “heroic Egyptian”. As the former Mossad Chief Iser Harel formulated the Arab position, “if the tale about how they outsmarted Mossad makes Arabs happy, let them believe it”.

However Israel lost propaganda war because, quote: "As the former Mossad Chief Iser Harel formulated the Arab position, “if the tale about how they outsmarted Mossad makes Arabs happy, let them believe it”. And young Arabs do honestly believe this BS. Just read their answers.

Most of us in Egypt; don't use the word Israel as much as the word Zionists; we say Egypt vs Zionists; and its more fair since all the wars we had with Zionists/ Israel most of the soldiers; up to 90% were not born on the land; they were born in Europe; thus we say Egypt vs Zionists.....As for conflicts; I would have to give you the 1967; and we will have to take credit for the 1973; Why because you celebrate the 1967 war and we celebrate the 1973 October war. some in Israel cannot come to terms that Egyptian forces were annihilating Israeli forces on the 6th of October; our forces inflicted the most damaging results on your entire army; tanks, planes and all; which made Golda Meir call her sponsors in New York and convince Nixon to give Israel all the weapons they want; with this kind of support; again it wouldn't be fair to say Egypt vs Israel; its more Egypt vs Zionism backed by Jewry of the world.......Proof; Egypt inflicted heavy losses in Youm Kippor war; http://www.jewishaz.com/jewishnews/980925/yomkippr.shtml Jewish Link @Lara; what you are saying doesnt make sense; since Egypt wasnt not re supplied from Soviets; however as stated in the link Israel was re supplied with 23,000 tons of weaponery on the 9th of Octobar; and that is a Fact

I am an Arab and we don't say that, it's true that we got defeated in most of the wars with israel (not all) but both sides should be ashamed, especially the "winners". The winners have won the battle for land but lost the battle of honor, killing innocent civilians, evacuating cities and villages from its settlers, mass genocides etc.. is nothing to be proud of. It seems that both parties forgot that the others are also human.

Maadist has his BS twisted, at the beginning of the 1973 War you were winning but then quickly the Israelis turned to the situation around. That's when you cried for help to the USSR and only after that the US helped us. And just another time, the Israelis and US beat the crap out the Arabs and USSR. “If the tale about how they outsmarted Mossad makes Arabs happy, let them believe it”.

its ok. they also like to tell how they won in 1973, even that the IDF crossed the suetz canal, and arrived 100 km from cairo. in the beginning the egyptians did manage to gain some success, but quickly the situation turned around and israel was asked not to destroy then entire egyptian 3rd tank armia by the US. we did ask for equipment from the US, but egypt was fueled with equipment from USSR before and during the war. so they can tell whatever stories to themselves as long as it makes them happy.

I, as an Arab, have never heard such stories before. But what I do know is that we oversmarted you Israelis in both your trials to conquer Borsaeed and Al Suess as well as Sinai. Plus, we have invented the possible and the impossible!! Ibn Sina, Ahmed zoweil, Mahmoud Wael Mahmoud, Al-Kirdi, and so many others are Arabs, and much more are yet to come in this generation, inshaa Allah. The Arab world is changing. And about your so many comments about Israel being the strongest army and etc. everybody and I mean everybody, even you Israelis, know from previous and current events, that the Egyptian army is the strongest army in the world!

Israel lost heavily in the 6 day war in regards to human life, no doubting that. But as far as military victories go, it was a spectacular, miracle like victory for Israel.

Egypt was taken by surprise because Israel agreed to negotiations. President Johnson was promised that Israel would hold off an attack to give talks a chance, this information was passed on to the Egyptians. The Egyptian vice- president was en route to Washington DC when the Israelis attacked. The American president, Lyndon Johnson was reportedly furious at this Israelis betrayal. I do believe Rafat al-Gamal was instrumental in providing the Egyptians with useful intel concerning the "Bar Lev line" which allowed Egyptian forces to overrun it in the Yom Kippur War. I also believe his wife denies the allegations supported by the fact he did provide Egyptians with useful intel- he did try to warn the Egyptians Israel would attack, but lulled by the promise from the American president and the Soviet assurances Israel would attack Syria first, he was ignored. It is also possible he was instrumental in the arrest of Eli Cohen, warned of Israeli secret nuclear experiments and had a hand in the discovery of "Operation Susannah". Egyptians intelligence did uncover the Lavon affair- operation Susannah- in which Israeli operatives would bomb American and British targets with evidence incriminating Arabs. Luckily the operation was discovered in time before anybody was hurt. Avri Elad, the Israeli overseer was actually a double agent and was caught selling intel to the Egyptians in 1956. For attempting to bomb innocents in an effort to at least bolster support for Israel, at most cause war, the surviving agents were given certificates of appreciation by Israeli president President Moshe Katsav in 2005.
arabs DID win a war against israelis. end of
