Serious Answers Only (Please!) - Teaching Jobs in Haifa, Israel?

  • I am interested in finding out how what the easiest way to get a job teaching English in Haifa is? My wife will be accompanying me while I am visiting researcher at Technion. However, we cannot afford to live on my salary alone (28,000 US). She is by training a Middle School/ High School English teacher and is currenly teaching 8th grade here in the US. We really need to find her work but have not had much luck...even the Israeli consulate was of little help. We have yet to come up with internet sites listing teaching jobs in Haifa. If someone can point us in the right direction or give us a feel for what the odds are like for finding a teaching job, that would be most appreciated. I would hate to have to give up this opportunity. Please note that we do not know Hebrew nor does she have a work permit for Israel. Apparently, that comes only with an offer. THANKS!

    Congratulations. Many schools are in need of English teachers. Just contact ministry of Education machoz Haifa, It;s in Kiryat Ha mimshala, u take a bus 101 from Carmiel central bus station. Do u know about the site? http://www.etni.org.il/index.html u can also contact "iriya" , they have variety of projects for kids from poor communities.

First of all, I wish you all the luck to you and your wife. It will be hard to find jobs in Hifa, Palestine, for several reasons, the most important one is because of the war. It will be so unsafe to send your wife to live in a country where the Israeli attack is hitting Palestine 24/7. My suggestion: she can go to Dubai or any gulf country because they are in need to a native english speaking teacher, and they pay good.
