What is Ireland like to visit on vacation? Would like Jewish/Israeli opinion?

What is Ireland like to visit on vacation? What is Ireland like? Is it really green like people say? Im thinking of going on vacation there but I know nothing about the country. What is the culture like, what are the roads like if i rent a car? I have a few ideas for our vacation next year and im leaning toward Ireland but I don't know. Is Dublin a nice city to visit, where is good to visit outside of Dublin? I have heard the irish countryside is quite beautiful but is this true or just spin? What are irish people like and how do they treat tourists? Is there nice scenery for photographs? We are really considering Ireland for our next vacation but just dont know. Im Jewish living in Connecticut and would really like a Jewish/Israeli opinion for any of yee that have been there. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Please, no Irish answer this question as your opinion would be biased.

Answer:
Well Ive been to Ireland once and that was like 3 years ago on my way to England. It was nice, there can be some rude people but over all they were friendly. Their grass really is green, and Dublin is amazing! Try to go on the beach, beautiful scenery and its alot of fun!

i've been there for a few times, and yes it is green. :) it is a very beautiful place, and the people are very nice and welcoming and there is a lot to see and do there. the problem is understanding the irish, even when they speak english it's difficult to understand them.

I live in Israel, have visited Ireland twice and can't wait to visit again. It is a beautiful, friendly country, but I don't see how my being Israeli or Jewish makes a difference. Do you think it should?

i am aussie who lived in israel for a long time and have also been to ireland. the country itself is absolutely beautiful and yes its green and very quaint and picturesque. however you mustnt bring up israel there as the irish are highly antisemitic and pro palestinian. they feel they are kindred spirits with the palestinians, even though truth be told they have nothing in common with their history or situation. the irish in general are not very educated and therefore believe a lot of the propoganda. @BRIAN. I obviously have nit a nerve. I didnt realise we were comparing the education of Australia to that of Ireland, I dont believe that has anything to do with the question, but if you want to know you are not entirely incorrect about Aussies either. However, i have never met a new immigrant from Ireland here who has more than a high school education, and lets be honest, the education system may be good, but your every day Irishman doesnt take advantage of that, perhaps they will in the future... Furthermore, i actually like Irish people, they are social and warm and friendly, up until the point that you mention that you are jewish or have lived in Israel and then their faces look like they have been sucking on lemons. Sorry my friend the antisemite Irishman is not a new phenomena, it has been around for centuries and probably wont change anytime soon.

yes it's green. their currency is gold, pots of it. they drink guinness all day and sing and write poetry. there are no tourists there as it's a mystical magical land of littlefolk. Lucky no Irish are allowed to answer or you might find out what it's really like you idiot
i got bitten by a leprechaun once, it's a very dangerous place

I won't give my opinion as an Irish person as you don't want me to be biased so I'm answering this to admonish 'curious1'. "Overall the Irish aren't very educated"......f**k you!!! Ireland has the the best educational system in the world while having been in Australia on five occasions, I would generally say you are a bunch of racist, retarded ***** (even though some of you are alright, but you obviously aren't)! You seem to have severe problems with us despite the fact that we built your country and 75% of you have some Irish descent. And by the way, Tobias Simmons deserves to be executed for what he did - only in a country like Australia would he walk away unpunished for the murder he committed. Getting back to the question, we don't feel we have any connections with the Palestinians and we are not antisemitic, we just feel what's happening there is wrong and speak up about it. But we'll still make you feel welcome as people like you have nothing to do with what's happening there. @curious1: While I appreciate the dignified nature of your reply, I'd have to say you really have to rephrase some of your statements before you type them here. Ireland now has high unemployment and high emmigration and are re-introducing college fees so unfortunately there will be some unskilled labour moving to your country from mine. However, the majority of people going there are in industries such as IT and Accounting so obviously have university educations. And show us some evidence of anti-semitism in Ireland that has been going on for centuries? The following article should make for interesting reading: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_of_the_Jews_in_Ireland We have synagogues in Dublin and Cork and even a Jewish Museum in Dublin. The Arkia Israeli seasonal flights in the summer from Tel Aviv to Dublin are always full so we can't be that bad. If a few Irish people reacted the way you saw, well let's just say the 'Mossad fake passport' scandal last year hardly worked wonders for the relationships between the two countries so a few people were aggrieved. @Horse Jay, you are an American first and foremost and will greeted as warmly as any other if you come over.
