Why is the United Nations important to the Filipinos?

Is Israel a Member of the United Nations?

  • Does Israel respect and abide by the decisions of the United Nations? Does Israel agree with the decisions of the United Nations? If you agree plz tell me why? And if you disagree plz tell me why? Do you think that Israel should not be a member of the United Nations? and lastly.....What would happen if Israel was not a member of the United Nations....thank you very much, sorry for so many questions rolled up in one.

  • Answer:

It is,but only because of U.S. and U.K. pressure. If it were up to the general Assembly they would have been booted out long ago. They do nothing but flaunt international law. No one however is ever likely to press for inspections of their huge nuclear arsenal at Dimona. I think it's a terrorist state for the simple reason that all it's policies are fundamentally the essense of state terrorism. I won't forget Quana '96. This bizarro-land version of a country is easily one of the most wicked and vile excuses for a government we've ever seen. Think how we used to treat Blacks in the U.S. Pretty bad. Think how often they rioted, from 1919 to 1992,and all the damage and loss of life - but would we have ever, ever considered encircling the ghettos with high concrete walls, tier upon tier? It takes a certain kind of mentality to do that. Truly, they are unique. Utterly so. And completely unfit to rule. Every country on earth should withdraw recognition and impose trade sanctions.

yes it is.. does it follow the un decisions yes. can the UN decide on everything that a country does- no. you should read the UN treaties laws which say specificly when the UN can decide and intervene and amognst them is when there is a humaniterian situation or a war. Israel has signed many UN treaties which it is obliged by them it has signed almost every treaty and the arab states have not. BTW do the arab states follow the UN decisions?(rethorical) we saw exactly how they "followed"(cynically) them in 1948... 1967 and so on... I have a couple of questions to you. the main one: do you think that Israel is a bad country to its citizens or to the world? the rest: do you think that Israel is wrong on what it is doing? do you think that if Israel wanted to it couldn't have done awful things to the arab states as they did to Israel? (we could have done awful awful things we don't use our technology for the bad) I don't know why people are always posting questions against Israel? Israel was the country attacked!!!!!!!!!!!!! so it defended itself it won fairly. Israel has been a safe house for jews after the holocaust. and now Israel has gave back land after land after land just to have peace why can't it have peace for peace why does Israel allways have to give up more land... we know how the arab states treat their societies we know that most if not all are not democrecies we know all those wrong things about other states and still people want to pick on Israel, I think the world has so much advanced ever since Israel. so I want to know if you agree with me that Israel is a good country or a bad one.... waiting for you sincere answer. :) Michael J - you said it - it has become a non objective UN Edit: Thank you for you sincere answer. I can only hope you change your mind in the future and realize that Israel stands for democracy and is a one of the top leading countries in high moral and human rights values. and I can also agree with you that not everything that Israel does is perfect NO COUNTRY IS! but the majority of what it does is better then most of the world.

Israel is a member of the United Nations, though I can't say that Israelis particularly respect that institution. It has long been a playground of international politics, to the point that it has lost any objectivity (assuming it ever had any). The numerous one-sided resolutions against Israel have led Israelis to disregard anything the UN really has to say. On tope of that, the numerous scandals associated with the UN just further undermines its credibility. Israel should be a member of the United Nations, as that is what all countries do today as the forum of international relations, but that doesn't mean the UN means anything. I honestly don't think that there would be any practical ramification of Israel leaving the UN, but the more isolated and liberal countries who still believe in the UN would not take it well.

youre writing a position paper huh? well trust me, you want to do your own research.

Israel is a member of the United Nations, however, considering at one time the UN declared Zionism as a form of racism do you really think Israel takes UN resolutions seriously - who can after that awful resolution was past. Good Luck!!!

Yes, but Israel is NOT a member of the extremely biased Security Council. Security Council Membership in 2007 Five permanent members — China, France, Russian Federation, the United Kingdom and the United States — ten non-permament members (with year of term's end): Belgium (2008) Italy (2008) Qatar (2007) Congo (2007) Panama (2008) Slovakia (2007) Ghana (2007) Peru (2007) South Africa (2008) Indonesia (2008) Burkina Faso, Costa Rica, Croatia, Libyan Arab Jamahiriya and Viet Nam were elected to become the next five non-permanent members of the Security Council from 1 January 2008. They will replace Congo, Ghana, Peru, Qatar and Slovakia. Don't you feel so much safer now that you know who's on the UN Security Council????? .

I have nothing to add to Maya’s answer, she said every thing… I just want to ask those who still believe in the “united nations” give me one single good thing the United Nations have done to the benefit of humanity??? Before the United Nations their was one Yemen after the United Nations two Yemen! Before united nations one Korea, after United Nations two Koreas, Before united nations nothing called Israel, then the united nations created Israel and accepted it as a country from nothing,,, What did the united nations do for the tragedy of Iraq What did the united nations do to stop Israel attack on Lebanon. What did the united nations do to stop the Israelis crimes against Gaza.

For one, no country respects any resolution the UN throws in, so to point the finger at one country just shows hypocrisy. Second do your own homework
