Have you heard of Freecycle Israel?

If your a member, what has your experience been like? What have you freecycled and/or received from freecycle? For those of you who don't know what it is, here's an overview: The Freecycle Network™ is made up of 4,239 groups with 4,471,000 members across the globe. It's a grassroots and entirely nonprofit movement of people who are giving (& getting) stuff for free in their own towns. It's all about reuse and keeping good stuff out of landfills. Each local group is moderated by a local volunteer (them's good people). Membership is free. I encourage all of you to get connected in your local town no matter where in the world you are. Answer:
Yes. The local branch (to which I belong) was started about 3 1/2 years ago by a wonderful guy who does a lot of other kind acts for people in the community. In the Jerusalem area alone, there are over 1600 members. The goals of Freecycle tie in nicely with the Jewish concept of "chessed", which refers to doing acts of kindness for others. So, actually, there are many thousands of people in the city of Jerusalem who (while not necessarily aware of the Freecycle list) engage in this kind of activity and more. In fact, the more religious the neighborhood-- the more "gemachs", an acronym for organizations of all sizes that provide free services for others in need. For example, the man who started the local Freecycle runs a computer gemach, through which he fixes up used computers and related equipment and donates them to poor families that need hardware/software for income, to sick children, or wherever appropriate.

Where do you keep finding this stuff! Your vines are spread far and wide. :-) I see the comments about Ultra, but I guess he deleted his response? Somehow I'm not curious, seems like it's healthier to spare myself. :-)

There is a freecycle in my area (north east USA) that is very active, not so much offering services, just stuff that is too good to throw away. In some ways it is more fun than craigslist
