What do Jews and Israelis think?
-
How do Jews really feel about Christians? How do Israelis really feel about Americans? I understand that opinions will naturally vary and that there are different groups of Jews and Israeilis...but I am asking "in general". Thanks for any questions from Jews, Israelis, Christians or Americans (as they are the only ones who whould have any knowledge about this). Personally, I am an American Christian who has always supported Israel 100%, but don't let that affect your answer. I ask this question because I have noticed a tendancy of some Jews/Israelis to defend themselves by in turn critisizing either Americans or Christians (i.e. "well, look at what America does"). Just wondering. thaks.

Answer:
Israelis love Americans for sure. Christians are cool as long as they don't attack me for being an "anti christ". We are very grateful for the support from Americans and Christians as one but I personally feel that while America is supporting us with money it does not let us do what we need to do in order to defend ourselves, it criticises the way we handle things, I can assure you that any American who will stay one night in Sderot will feel differently. Sometimes Jews may defend themselves by criticising America when they are attacked by Americans themselves. I see Shyster Rich Jew wrote some stuff about Israel spilling precious blood, thanks man, you just proved my point and you being an ex Jew is even worse. I suppose we should just let em fire rockets and do nothing because their kids are so much more precious than ours. 2 can play - can you email me? I wanna ask you something and you don't have an option for email on your profile.

As an orthodox Jew, I personally think America and Christians who support Israel deserve praise and blessing. The feeling is shared by most people I know. As for "Evil J's" comment, I don't think it's accurate and is not good that he thinks that way. I have never and know no one whom has ever shared such a view with me. Jew or Israeli. When I was in Israel, the sentiment was that America is the best country, aside their own, in the world. They greatly appreciate American support and Christian support. As for the hater you described, it seems embedded in nature that there will always be people who are on the wrong side of the fence and history.

The only problem that Jews have with Christians is when the Christians do bad things to the Jews or preach to them how Chrisitianity is the only true religion. I hope that you can't blame them for being angry about things like the Inquisition and the Holicost. They also have no problems with America, except under the same circumstances. Actually, the have no problem with ANY religion or country except under those circumstances. Jews believe their religion is correct, but they do not think that all the others are automatically wrong. Muslims think all others are totally wrong. Several Christian sects also believe that all but theirs is totally wrong. I attended an Evangelical funeral not long ago. The presiding minister was extremely strong and clear about the fact that anyone who wasn't a member of his sect will go to Hell. There was no wiggle room for him, it is black or white. Most religions have a problem accepting that their's is wrong. Same with politics. Israel is in a somewhat unique position of having several countries calling for the complete elimination of Israel and the death of all the Jews there. That doesn't win friends and influence people well. Can you imagine if several countries that were several times your size and power were to say that. Sure, you had the USSR, but that is only one country. What if they had: 1. publicly called for your elimination as a country. 2. publicly called for the death of all the Christians of the world. 3. been firing rockets into your country for decades 4. sending suicide bombers into your country for decades (e.g. 9/11). 5. done a sneak attack on your country on it's holiest religious holiday 6. broken every cease fire that had been negociated. and so on and so on. Now consider the same senerio with 10 countries of a similar size, doing the same thing. Starting to get the picture? Now, lets make it more realistic. With all that going on, the U.N. says that YOU are to blame. YOU should not retaliate because it means the YOU are the agressor. To add more insult to the injury, many "news" services report every little thing that you do. Well, actually, that don't really report; many of the stories are warped or even entirely fabricated to make you look bad. When the other side does something bad, they turn that around too and make it sound like it is your fault. That is what Israel deals with every day. Is there any question as to why they are sensative about some subjects? The only thing that is hard to understand is how they put up with it so well. They sometimes point to the U.S. because the U.S. does something bad and is congratulated for it. If Israel was judged by the same standards, it would be an entirely different story. The disparity in point of view is irritating some times. I'm glad that you realize that about some of the pro-Muslim's on YA! Most people don't know it is the same people with multiple names. It is even harder because they are always making up whatever they want to. One day the person says they are Catholic, the next they say they are Jewish, the next it is Muslim. Just a bunch of lies. There are also a bunch of people who are either distorting the facts or simply making them up. I also see that from the U.S. ultra conservatives about the Democrats. I saw one e-mail criticized something that Obama had supposedly said. It had a link to the full statments, but the "summary" that they put in the e-mail made it sound like Obama said some things that were a problem. Indeed, if he really had said them, it would have been a problem. I followed the link and read the actual text of Obama's statement. It was 100% opposite of what the e-mail said it was. All a person had to do was to follow the link to know the truth. The point is that some groups of people have no problem lying. It is hard to argue with a person who is allowed to lie in their arguments when you speak only the truth. Keep that in mind when reading some of the anti-semitic statements on YA! Some of those people also "block" the pro-Israeli posters. One even did that and then loudly proclaimed that the answer that agreed with him had a high percentage of thumbs up compared to thumbs down. Of course it did, he locked his opponents from answering. Note that others refuse to capitalize any word that relates to Israel or Jew. They think it is an insult. To be honest, I thought so too, when I was in the fourth grade.

OK ok ok, I am a Jew, I mean I was one of them, but no more. OK, let me explain, I was born a Jew, both of my parents lived in Vienna Austria but things got real rough so we took the bait and came to Israel. Man believe me when I tell you Israel sucks big time. I know,I know you are a Jew playing Gentile but that's OK with me. I have no problem with that,OK? So, I decided that Israel is no more for me. (Man, the taxes, the secret police, the Army, the Arabs, the rockets, the red tape ....everything sucks big time on that land). Anyways I love so much the "Gentile way of thinking", meaning: Yes I love Americans for good, not only for their money like some of my fellow Jews, but also I wanted to have business with the Arabs. Not kill them like dogs! Do you follow me? I was sick and tired watching on TV all that precious blood being spilled from both sides so one morning I says to myself: Myself you are gonna be one of your heroes, so here I am! A proud Catholic and a very church going person too, if I may add. So speaking of myself I am the biggest fan of America. I wish I could be a WASP and live up north in Boston and join some of those great country clubs and all. Loved your Question buddy!

You're right that the answer would vary from person to person and that there is no "in general". You ask several questions. I'll try to answer them, though I really promised myself to stop answering in this category where people make such hostile posts (not yours). As an American Jew, I grew up among Christians, my relatives are Christians, my wife is Christian, and I have nothing against Christians. To make a gross generalization, I think Israelis are happier with evangelical Christians, who support Israeli policy no matter what, than American Jews are, who have to deal - especially if they are liberals like me - with a voting bloc that supports things I don't including promoting Christian observances in my Jewish kids' schools. But that's about evangelicals, not Christians in general. And I don't hate evangelicals; my sister is one. I just disagree with them about politics and um, evolution, but my Christian wife does, also. I think the "look what America does" posts in this category tend to be making an analogy between Palestinians and Native Americans, a defensive and not-hugely-accurate response to the many attacks in this section, ostensibly about travel, on the right of Israelis to live in Israel when not so many Jews lived there 200 years ago. It's sort of a case of politics making odd bedfellows, Israelis and evangelical Christians. We all get along, though, until an evangelical Christian tells us we're going to hell, or an Israeli vents about being evangelized. It's a bit of a tenuous political alliance that, again, I think is more popular in Israel than in the U.S., where liberal Jews and liberal Christians tend to share more opinions than either group does with evangelical Christians.

all in all ,americas and christians support is very appreciated by israelis. i think the situation here would have been different (and not for the best) if it weren't for americas support.the u.s influence on the u.n by vetoing the anti-israeli resolutions, the financial help, the joined weapon development,to name a few.i think the more important aspect of that support is the knowledge of an existence of a true friend. i'm not naive enough to think that this friendship is without interests(from both u.s and israel) but lets face it..everything derives from mutual interests. i think both countries benefit from this alliance. i say .u.s and christians support is truly a blessing. regarding the criticism, is it legitimate whether to friend or foe.. as for the muslim guys&gals coming to the israel section trying to stir things up,well...they're immature children and we most times treat them as such :)

yes it does vary, but when thousands of christians are notably anti-Semitic, isn't it natural for some Jews to be anti-Christian? I mean, really, the Jews are the only people who no-one can honestly say have no right to live, with all the presecutions, was, expulsions, crusades, inquisitions, they have a right to be a bit resentful, and almost all Jews have moved on and common opinion is very high of Christians, especially americans.

I would hope that they feel grateful, but I expect that they regard us as any other master would regard their slaves.
