How is Hebrew similar to Arabic?

How many similar words exist in Arabic & Hebrew? what are they?

  • where can i find an on-line lexicon for them? can u name 10 words now?

  • Answer:

There are a lot of them--too many to mention. To start with, most of the numbers are related: (I don't remember all the numbers in Arabic.) Hebrew-Arabic-English echad-wahhad-one shtayim-tnain-two (Arabic "t" or "th" is sometimes related to Hebrew "sh") shalosh-talata-three arba-arba'-four eser-'ashara-ten bat-binet-daughter yeled-walad-boy lechem-lahhm-bread (Hebrew)/meat (Arabic) shuk-souk-market hakodesh-al quds-name for Jerusalem And I don't know of any word lists online anywhere, although undoubtedly there are some somewhere. (In Jerusalem, I've heard the consonant in the numbers 2 and 3 pronounced "t" instead of "th" as in Classical Arabic.) Hebrew uses "yom shlishi" for Tuesday--literally "the third day".
