Answer:
I was in England two years ago when it was Halloween. My English cousins would dress in fancy dress & go to neighbours homes trick & treating, this was great fun. After we had a party & my uncle made a barbeque & all the children played "dunk the apple" I will explain... Apples were placed into a bowel of water, we had to keep our hands behind our back & try to catch an apple with our teeth & pull this from the water.. great fun, hehehe, we also had a bonfire & fireworks, the garden was decorated in orange & black & my mom & auntie bought huge pumpkins, cut out the flesh then pyramid shape eyes, nose & jagged mouth in the thick skin & placed candles inside to light up the garden. I did not celebrate yesterday as my family here in Alexandria do not believe in such things.

Thank you very much, it's informative. I never celebrate it and I needed to know it's history from a trusted source.

this is more of an American celebration than an English one but it has become increasingly popular in England over the years. All Hallows Eve or All souls day is a very old celebration and has its routes in pagan history going back more than 2000 years and was called samain. Now it is called Halloween and is the time when wicked spirits are around and you must take care. Children celebrate this time by dressing up in costume usually one of some traditional horrific character such as a witch or wizard. they go to their neighbors houses and say trick or treat. If you reply treat then you must give the children something nice such as something to eat like a sweet. but if you say trick then maybe the children will make a rude face at you or something similar. In recent years the trick has got nastier and often means that the children throw things like egg or flour which is not nice.people often decorate thier houses with pumpkins and other things. in Europe the people clean the grave yards and spend the day making all graves look nice and putting flowers on the graves etc. the biit above about bonfires and fireworks is a differnt celebration called bonfire night or fireworks night and is a celebration to do with something that happened in english history 400 years ago. when someone tried to kill the king and blow up parliment. that takes place on Nov 5th
