Help!!! Working with tourist Visa in Egypt lead to trouble in future?

Can you purchase a tourist visa at the airport Cairo (Egypt) Please Help!!!?

  • I am planning on sending my mother & father to Cairo for a break roughly mid-december. I am just a bit worried regarding the visa. I am getting mixed responses as to whether it is required before hand or not. Please could you let me know if they can purchase the tourist visa when landing in Cairo and how much would it cost?. I would greatly appericate if you can let me know asap as I am due to book the holiday god willing by Friday Many Thanks

There are 2 things to be considered: - The nationality. British and US passport holders can obtain their visas at the airport. There can be other nationalities too. The only way to find out for sure is to call the Egyptian consulate nearest to you and ask them. By this you get an accurate answer. - The validity of the passport. It must be valid for more six months at least from the day of arrival. This is whether the visa is obtained in advance or at the airport.

the answer is yes. But you don't say what nationality your parents are and this may be important,however; assuming you are english and your parents both have english passports then stop worrying, you have plenty of time. First they must have six months validity on their passports from the date of travel and a bit longer is probably a good idea. If they dont renew their passports now. On landing in cairo they will enter the arrivals hall where they will see bank kiosks, if they go to the kiosk and hand over their passports and the equivalent of $15 each, this can be in stirling or euros or dollars at the exchange rate of the day, e.g. around £10 right now, the bank man will give any change they need in egyptian dollars and stick a visa in their passports. they will then take this to the passport control kiosks. if all this worries you it is possible to buy visas at the embassy in london, but it is more expensive and you can post etc but personally i prefer to buy in egypt simple and cheaper. any other questions please e mail. oh and change your money in egypt you will get a much better exchange rate.
