What do people do for fun in Egypt?

Should I go to Egypt? Read Description...?

  • So when I'm in Grade 11 our school is having an Egypt trip during spring break. I would usually do it in a heart beat. But the tour we're taking is 10 days in egypt (that includes 2 days of travel) So really there's only 8 days actually doing stuff in egypt... So my first problem is that so retard decieded that it would be fun for us to pay to go to egypt just so we can do a 5 day cruise down the Nile River, which I wouldn't mind if it wasnt for 5 days and we actually stopped to look at stuff, but there's only two stops along the way and they don't seem like anything interesting!! So now there's 3 days left in egypt right? They're spending one day shopping... >:( So that leaves two days do actually do cool stuff... (we're not even going to the Cairo Museum) I mean Egypt is really cool and I've always wanted to go there, but I can take a cruise and shop any day, but I can't go to egypt at the snap of my fingers. I've got a job to make $4000 to spend for the trip but I don't know if it'll even be worth it. I mean I'm spending my summer working 5 days a week 9 hours a day to earn money for this. I wish we could like see all the sites that I've wanted to. Plus my dad is making me get the numerous shots because I'm traveling (even though it's not required that you get them most of the people going aren't going to get them) but I'm scared to death of shots, one time the nurses decided not to give me shots at that moment because they were worried I might go into shock if I was given them (well given that I had a bit of a cold at the time) Should I go? I'm really drawn on this...

  • Answer:

It's Egypt. I think if all your friends are going, you'll regret it if you don't go and they come back with the pics. But I must say the itinerary sounds strange to me...and pricey too. I have no idea why, with only 8 days in Egypt, they would do a 5 day cruise, especially with the age of the passengers. A trip to Egypt without going to Cairo museum is also kind of crazy, especially for a school trip, BUT the good news is that I think you're underestimating what you'll see on the cruise. Yes, you only do two stops between Luxor and Aswan (Edfu and Kom Ombo temples) but they're very interesting. Also, the first and last day of the cruise are really land-based sites in Luxor and Aswan. Philae Temple (Temple of Isis) is beautiful and if you guys are doing Abu Simbel it will be AWESOME and a visit you'll never forget. In Luxor, you will do the Valley of the Kings and that's definitely a highlight. Karnak and Luxor Temples are mind boggling and you'll really appreciate the history there. I say, if you don't think you'll get another opportunity to go anytime soon, then go. You'll get a taste for what you really want to see and you can visit again. If you think you can visit separately, skip this for something more customized to what you want to see and at a better price tag too. K
