How long it took you to forget something you don't want to remember?

It depends on this thing.. Maybe I can be strong and throw behind my back .. and every time I remember it , I tell myself that I am grander than such this problem. But if it is a spiritual problem, it takes with me long time... but sometimes I feel so sad.. another time I feel quite satisfied by feeling that God is always with us Who says "and give glad tidings to the patient (ones)." [2:155] (wa basher al Sabereen) < have you found a way to do it >... of course, 1st.I ask God to give me the power, also increase my prayer and reading Qur'an, or religious advice or stories, construction in books, newspaper ..etc 2nd. Helping the others (poor, orphans, old, my relatives..etc) even who those hurt me any time and be patient to them. 3rd. Walking and playing any sport... this habit makes me get out my energy in a positive way instead of thinking. 4th. Drawing my feelings or writing my memories.. very useful to get out what is inside your heart. Hope this is useful.. :)

There are things that are very hard to take them out of your brain, maybe because of how big they are and how big their consequences keep on getting back to you. Or maybe because you're putting too much focus while trying to forget it, so my advise, don't give it attention.

if it's a big thing, then believe me it could take me a life time..and i may not forget it !! sometimes things just haunt me like ghosts.. sry,i know u need a way out,but i don't know how.!...anyway i wish u can get over it very soon :))

ya meen sam3ak... u seem to forget bas it is always there lurking in the back of ur mind.... it will take a lotttttttttttt of time... u know,,i had this bad experience and believe it or not....i still get night mares about it... even after 23 yrs..

Depending on what it is--I could get over it in a nano second--or if it's especially traumatizing--I'm usually scarred for life--lol.

depends what it is. Usually though it's like 10 min. and I forget. I don't like to dwell on anything. I'd rather just let it go. When I was younger I was a very sensitive person, I got angry easily, never let anything go or forgot or forgave anything. I think you say kabar demaghak and that's what I do. Now im the complete opposite and im laid back, chill, easy going, forgiving, etc. etc.

It's hard, especially if they're are trumatic events. I would suggest positive thinking and look to the future, and when something triggers that memory back, you need to do something to keep you occupied.
