How do i do a backhandspring on a trampoline?

How do i do my backhandspring on the hard floor? Gymnast only please!?

  • Okay guys i can tumble well on the trampoline (ex: i can do back-handspring,back-tuck,front-handspri… and i almost have my half twist). The problem is i have all these awesome skills and i am scared to take them to the hard floor! I took gymnastics for about a year then i started ball season (i cheer) and had to quit b/c i didnt have time for gymnastics. While i was taking gymnastics i got my back-handspring on the spring floor but i was still scared to do it on the gym floor! I havent done my back-handspring on the spring floor since i quit but now (2 weeks from cheer compitition) really want to do a backhandspring on the hard floor.....any tips on how to do it on the hard floor straight off the trampoline? Please help this is seriously important to me! Thank you

  • Answer:

If your gym has an open gym time where you can go practice on your own, try this... start with some BHSs on the trampoline. Then lay a panel mat across the trampoline, and do your BHS like that. You'll still be getting some bounce off the trampoline, but the panel mat will make it feel more like the floor. Once you're confident doing it like that, add another panel mat. The more mats you layer on the tramp, the less springy it will be - and the more it will feel like a floor. When you're ready, take a panel mat and lay it on the actual floor, and do your BHS there. And finally, get rid of the mat and do it on the floor! Good luck! =)
