How can you improve on the distance you run?

How can i improve my stamina?

  • like, whenever i have short distance races i'm really fast and tend to win (soz if it sounds like i'm bragging) but if i run longer distances i get really tired halfway and can't run anymore, does anyone have any suggestions on how i can improve my stamina?

  • Answer:

You should be more active. Your body is probably not used to running long distance, but fear not, for that can easily be improved if not completely eliminated. I recommend you do some jogging. It doesn't have to be really intense or on a regular basis, just do it from time to time, when you have some time to spare. I suggest doing it in the weekends. You'll actually feel much better and your body muscles will improve + it'll definitely keep you in shape. Just grab a bottle of water, your iPod/mp3 player/mobile phone or whatever else you've got, put those headphones on and just have a run around the neighborhood. Afterwards, take a cold shower and I can almost guarantee you'll feel awesome the whole day. Running longer distances doesn't necessarily mean you have low stamina. Problems may also come from not breathing properly. Also, don't just sprint like there's no tomorrow when running longer distances. That way, you'll use up your stamina a lot more quickly. Be smart, calculate the distance and use a speed that you think will save your energy for the whole run. Cheers!

wind sprints,if you live by the beach run up sand duns or run up hills

It's all about cardio-vascular, just do some cycling, running rowing or whatever repetitive exercise you can that involves the workout of your lungs nad heart. It does require a lot of work though, so be prepared for that.

Go running, go swimming!

use a treadmill at the gym & gradually increase the distances you run each time to lengthen the distance you can run if you know what i mean. swimming helps improve stamina too. push ups and sit ups as well. if you arent a member of a gym or anything just set a place where you can run to and each time you go out, increase that distance around your town or whatever. bang on your ipod or MP3, that always makes it seem easier (:

thats waht used to happen to me, but ive been going running since i finished school and my stamina is gradually, but definitely increasing. try doing more running for longer periods of time and you could also do running like this for example; run from one point to another slowly, then from that point to another point go as fast as you can, then slow down, then fast etc etc.. that will increase your stamina too and allow you to have more energy when your tired. running uphill also helps ! remember not to over do it and take a break when your tired or you'll get injured. Have plenty of water too !! Hope this helps :)
