How to do back walkovers?

Advice on back walkovers?

  • If you can just tell me anything you know about how to do one, what not to do, anything really, then thanks sooo much! :D

  • Answer:

So, first, I just spread my legs apart. I start reaching backward, keeping my balance, and arching my back until I spot the ground (dont do this unless you feel comfortable, otherwise you might hit your head). Once I see the ground and put my hands down, I try and kick over my dominant foot first, with my other foot following. If you're having trouble with this step, try and inch your hands toward your ankles while you're still in a bridge. This will make it easier to kick over your legs. After that, you, well, stand up. TAH DAH!! Once you have mastered this, before you start put your dominant foot a little in front of your other foot, and try and keep it that way when reaching for the ground. That way, it will be a bit easier to get that foot over if you want to do a backwalkover without stopping in the middle of a bridge. If you can't do it or execute this very well, try asking a friend to come spot you when you come down for the bridge, or help push your legs over a little when kicking over. Also, the steps above ^ happen quite quickly, so it might be harder to do if you try and do it super slowly (but don't rush it either!!). Hope this really helped!!

Well I'm guessing you already know the basic idea and look of one. Some people say that you need to know how to go into a bridge and then kick over in order to learn a back walkover but that's not true. So don't worry if you can't do a bridge kickover. Remember to keep one leg up while going back into your bridge and bring your leg up and kick over when your hands hit the ground. Also, try to place your hands as close to your feet as possible, this will help you kick over easier. You can also go on YouTube and search how to do a balk walkover and it really helps :). Hope I helped!! :)
