How can I prepare for this track season ?

It's first time running track in eight grade and I want to be a sprinter. How can I be prepared for this year's tryouts and season ? Also , will track help me get in shape for cheer leading tryouts in this year for high school ?

Do: a bunch of plyo stuff (jumping) alternating between sprinting and jogging squats lunges jump rope climbing stairs jumping with weight always warm up and stretch before exercise, and cool down and stretch after word. and since ur getting ready, don't overdo it so you are worn out by the time track season comes around
