Is runners knee permanent?

Runners knee problem?

  • I am thirteen and I've always been into sports. Track, lacrosse, tennis, you name it, but it's always been at different times. Now, I am doing all three at once and I thought I'd be perfectly fine, until my knee began to hurt. I don't know if I have runner's knee because I don't recall my knee "cracking" as is supposed to happen. But if I do have it, what do I do??? I absolutely adore sports and I am quite talented at them as well. If I stop I will be seriously depressed. It's like my life. I plan to be accepted to a good college due to my skills and become an athlete. It's been my dream since I was five. Will runner's knee seriously affect my life? Please respond.

I'm also a runner, but ya you really need to go to a doctor about that. You should probably go easy on your knee and get a knee brace.

Get to the doctor as soon as you can. Only a professional can diagnose your injury. And don't wait. I waited on a shoulder injury and it ended up costing me a scholarship. Trust me. Go now!!!

You may be suffering from "over use" of the knee. It is much like runner's knee only less severe and without the cracking. I play the same sports and wonce had the same problem as you. Just try to stay off of it for a week or two and you should be feeling better in no time at all. Good Luck!
