1. run hard. the faster you run the easier the vault will be. 2. hurdle with your feet in front on the board. 3. Punch! hit the board as hard as you can. 4. Do a straight jump before you go down to the vault. Jump as high and straight as you can and your forward momentum from the run will make you flip forward... and then just stay really tight for the rest!

While what everyone is saying is correct, that isn't the root of the problem. What causes most gymnasts to pike in during their handspring is speed. Piking in helps you rotate and therefore gets you over, if you increase your run (aka run as fast as you possibly can) then you will have a easier time making the corrections (ie: driving heals, squeezing your bum and being straighter). So my guess is to run harder and hit the beat board hard to get lift and speed. This will help you straighten out. Good luck!

when you hit the vault board make sure your hands are down and the pull your shoulders up and keep your arms either level with your ears or behind (depending on home bad your piking) and keep your stomach tight and you should be all good. if you go on youtube actually and look up front handspring vaults and you find a good one, you can just watch what she does.

I do that too! If you get ur hands further on the vault, and use your shoulders to pop, and keep a tight body your problem should stop. Practice holding hollow bodies (aka everything squeezed with your head and legs raised about 5 inches) to work on that. I hope your vault gets better!

Think about leading your handspring with your toes, that means you need to kick your heels up towards the ceiling as soon as you jump on the board (it's called heel-drive and your coach should know drills to help you with this).

hmmm, maybe think about pushing your hips open ( or forward) then it will push your legs out of pike. Good luck don't worry - you'll get there!

drive your heels up faster on the spring board and block off fast and stay super tight. dont think about it too much, you'll get it eventually.
