How did David Meltzer Sports 1 Marketing get involved with Sports Marketing?

I've been studying sports marketing in school and watching the career of CEO Dave Meltzer http://davemeltzersports1marketing.posterous.com. It seems he was with Leigh Steinberg before joining up with Warren Moon. Does anyone know how he got into sports marketing to begin with? I'd like to follow in that type of career. Thanks!

Dave Meltzer was a college athlete who also happened to study law. He went to several different companies than eventually decided that sports is where he wanted to be.

I think Warren Moon met him once at a mixer and had him apply for a job.

He met Leigh Steinberg through some event and from there joined his organization as the COO. I think that was like 3 years ago.
