im n high school u have to have good grades they prefer u have tumbling skills but u don't have to if u do u get extra pts.from the judges smile alot ... we had 3 days to learn the chant, cheer, dance (which they tought us), but ur school might have u come up with them 4th day was the tryout we were put in groups in four , we also practiced stunting but we ended up not doing it at tryouts tried out for freshmen squad but didn't make it im a soph. now i plan to try out for varsity in april.. im going to be working hard by the way & sometime during my jr. yr get tumbling lessons to get those skills dwn did u go to the info. mtg. yet? jumps: toe touch, front hurdler, herkie, tuck, pike (they want them high) make sure u have precision, nice tight motions not sloppy or broken wrists req.: ask any present cheerleaders or the coach if u need tumbling if u do end up needing it take a class cuz u can't perfect them by urself u can get hurt work out plans : stretch, lift 5 lb. weights? cuz u need strength for ur motions, jumps, and when stunting, running/walking stretches:sit with legs in a V position, as far apart as you can and lean and stretch at the same time on both sides (lean over left leg, then lean over right leg) also, try reaching your hands out in front of you as far as you can while doing these exercises., butterfly as well.If you do this on a regular basis, you will continue to become more flexible. meal plan: fruits, veg, sweets every now and then try to stay fit how to:if u need any tips here are just a few sites i recommend http://www.squidoo.com/cheerleading-tryo%E2%80%A6 http://www.mspineapple.com http://www.associatedcontent.com/article%E2%80%A6 http://www.topcheers.com (sorry if some links don't work) oh yea don't forget to stretch & be loud use ur diaphragm to try to remember the chant cheer or dance use counts of 8- 5 6 7 8 good luck with everything!!!

I am a feshman that made the varsity cheer team somthing that is rarely heard of in my school there is alot to cheer that you need to do to make the team you should start working out now judges like sharp arms don't confuse that with stiff arms thought that would be bad you also need to work on high v low v and your arm drills now it depends if you want to be a flyer or a base you need to work on your balance your leg strength and also sit ups push ups and v ups flexability really help you should start working on left right splits and stradels froggies really help with that cheerleades are role models so you need to get good grades and not get in trouble alot if you need any more help then you can email me

your sooo shallow!there is no way that you can ever be a cheerleader or unshallow!!!!!!!! dont be a loser everyone likes outgoing people and they make friends soo if you wanna be popular then go anorexic and outgoing

I'm a cheerleader and I've been cheering since 6th grade. Before Middle School I was SOOO shy and I just eventually broke through that and now I'm a 10th grade cheerleader. It helps a lot. You might be shy at first but don't be. Especially at tryouts. Be confident, and calm. If you mess up, don't let it show. Just keep smiling and catch back on! Anyways, try gradually learning cheers on your own and then doing them in front of a small audience like your parents or siblings. It'll really prepare you. You might also want to work on flexibility. So try getting your splits & a toetouch. Oh! And tight motions are REALLY important in cheerleading for both cheers and dances. So try standing in front of a mirror & repeating motions and keeping them stiff and tight. Good luck girl! (:

I suggest taking tumbling classes at a gymnasium. It's like gymnastics, but all you do is floor. You could probably have at least a round off back hand spring by then. Trust me, coaches love it when girls can tumble. Also practice some uca dances off you tube for help with that.

you would need to overcome that. You have to dance in front of lots of people and be good at it. Plus you have to look good.
