Where can we get trainings for contracters?

Flexibility trainings affect on sport (i.e running, kickboxing) help/advice needed :)?

  • Hi, I know this could be a stupid question, but hey they say "theres no such thing as a stupid question!". Anyway, Long story short I have been a practitioner in the past of taekwondo (2nd dan) and use to have reasonable front bending flexibility, havn't done it for years. Anyway, I want to get into kickboxing (properly..at a decent level) and I run and skip quite a bit..practically every day... Recently I have got into "meditation" and "stretching/yoga" have realised that I struggle even with basically crossed legs, i.e I can touch my toes and hold for 30 secs fine but my hip flexibility is just shocking..they are pretty much seized. ( My right "hip area" more then my left...my right was my rear foot i.e used a lot more for power focused kicking..as opposed to the lead leg). So recently I have decided that I want to greatly improve my flexibility (mainly hip region) (my end goal would be to get into the lotus pose) http://holisticonline.com/yoga/images/yp… yoga and possibly some brazilian jiu jitsu on the side. I have found some good instructional guides on this and have the motivation. However, my main questions are: 1: will getting to the level in flexibility of being able to do full lotus poses etc. detract power from my kicks (low very hard kicking..what would be used in a kick boxing fight) 2: and does it effect the width of your hips? like stretch them out or something or is it all internal muscles (want to know for general knowledge..was just pondering)? 3: will having a high degree of flexibility have an affect on running..ligaments etc.?     Flexibility will help your power, it can not affect the width of your hips. being flexible will help your running. It is important to flex after training.
