What are basic cheer moves that you should know?

Do I Need To Know How To Tumble For HS Cheer ?

  • I've been searching every now and then to find out if I need to have any tumbling skills to make HS cheer. I lack asking my current cheer coach (MS) about this because we've been extremely busy this season. I'm in 8th grade ; Almost 14 years old. I've been in cheer for 3 years now. I am Captain of my Middle School Cheer Squad and want to further take cheer. I am very flexible, but I can't do a backhand spring or any flips. I am not that great at doing a normal cartwheel so basically I have NO TUMBLING EXPERIENCE. Even though I've been told I'd make HS cheer, I want further opinion. Honestly, I believe I am a great dancer/cheerleader. I learn moves quickly, I am skilled, and I've made up routines and stunts. I am a base (strongest base on my squad). My jumps are decent. I have great facials and all that stuff. I just cannot tumble. But to get to my main point : Do I need to know how to tumble for HS cheer. . . I'd be extremely thrilled to make Varsity. But idk if I would because I can't tumble. Does anyone really know what I'd need to be able to do for HS cheer tryouts? And sorry for going into so much detail ; I need an honest opinion.     I'd say go for it! I'm trying out for cheer I am in tumbling but on my flyer it says you can still cheer out with minimul tumble experience! so I don't think you'd make varsity, but maybe jv! u seem great at everything else but to make sure to make it, practice jumps and start to take up tumble be sure to work hard

We are in the same boat! Can't tumble at all! But I fly so I'm trying to do my best at that. The squad isn't all about tumbling, they need good bases to! I think you'll make it. Just try and do your best at what you can do! Like me! Hahah. good luck!
