How do I get more blog followers?

How can I get my sports blog to have more followers?

I started a sports blog the other day and this is my second attempt at it. I am trying to get more followers who consistently look at my blog. How should I go about doing this? My blog is on blogger but I want to try and promote it more but I am not wanting to put like an actual ad out there. Just for some people to read what I write and comment on it. This is one way to do it. You could also post it on comment boards on ESPN and Yahoo sports. Also try posting it on twitter and facebook. BTW that link is broken there is nothing there.
