What skateboard deck do you recommend?

What should i do if im buying a skateboard for someone else?

so im thinking about getting a skateboard for my boyfriend, who went on tour with his band last week. Soooo..... i am planning on buying a skateboard deck and collaging the underside with the recipients name. i was wondering if anyone had any tips on buying this skateboard. Should i just get him a deck and have him mount his own trucks and wheels? or should i have trucks wheel etc mounted for him? when im collaging the bottom, should i use shellac to adhere the pieces of paper, or is there something better? if i do have trucks and wheels and other things mounted, which ones would you recommend? PS there is NO way i can ask him about any of this info at the moment so he cant help me. ANY ANSWERS HELP!! :)

If is for him to skate - why put anything on the bottom? It is going to get torn up. Get him a gift certificate and let him get what he wants from a GOOD TRUE SKATESHOP. If it is for him to keep and just collect - buy a crap deck, do you thing on it and don't bother with trucks or wheels.
