Answer:
Some people it takes a year or more. Others it take a few months or even just weeks. It all depends on how athletic they are and if they already have a great handstand, bridge, and round off. You can do drills at home that will help you speed up how long it takes to learn your handspring: http://aescougarcheer.com/Cheer101/tumbling.htm

it took me 6 months starting from scratch. i was also born with crazy leg and arm muscles. take tumbling lessons. tips: -keep your arms by your ears -dont bend your arms -pop off the ground using your shoulders, not by bending your arms -get a good sit back [jump] by following through with your swing -jump up and back hard -keep your legs close together -practice, practice, practice. -have someone video tape you so you can see what youre doing wrong -take private lessons so you can have a one on one with the instructor -NEVER try it by yourself before instructor approval -practice on the trampoline and the cheese mat -stretch a lot -get stronger by working out -watch other people do it thats all i can think of. good luck! =D

The best advice I can give you, is don't give up, your gonna fall on your head/ knees a bunch of times, but you will get it. The best way to learn is sitt with your knees bent and your chest at 90 degrees, sit like you're sitting in a chair, bend your knees, and throw your arms and your head back, make sure you keeps your eyes on your hands, it will make it eaiser to get over. Also make sure you on a mat, and you ahve someone spotting you for the first time. Good Luck!

Well It took me 3 years to do a standing back handspring BUT it was mostly because I was too scared to do it by myself for 1 an a half years so I would tell you not to be scared, so when your COACHES Tell you that you are able to do it by your self then GO FOR IT!!!!! oter wise you will become a head case and have to learn it all over again. so theres my advice HAVE COURAGE
hello!!!
It took me about a month and a half to get my back handspring. I would just say to be strong and don't give up. Keep your arms straight and legs straight. Make sure you snap your feet down at the end to land. Good Luck!
