Does anyone have any bowling tips?
-
Last time I went bowling I scored 758 points (which includes 15 strikes and 7 spares), but I got a huge blister on my bowling thumb. When asked the guy at the desk for a bandage, he pulled one out, flashed in the front of my face and taunted me, "Who's your daddy?" I got the bandage, but I never want to be embarassed again, so any tips on how I can bowl good without getting a blister? Please give me a lot of answers people!!

Well, first of all, no matter what you shouldn't have caluses nor should you be getting blisters. If you are, your ball is drilled incorrectly and you need to get it fixed. You should never, ever bend your thumb while inside your ball. This could be a reason you're getting sores. Your thumb is there for balance and control, nothing else. All the weight of the ball should rest in your middle and ring fingers....NEVER on your thumb. If so, you will develop sores and it will hurt to bowl. And this is never a good thing! How many games did you bowl? I'm very happy and proud of you for getting 15 strikes and 7 spares, but that can't have been in three games. Which makes me believe you bowled many games and points us at the problem with your thumb. Do you have your own ball? Or are you using a house ball? If this is your bowling ball hurting you, march yourself right into a pro shop and get this fixed. It sounds like your thumbhole is just a little tight. They have a special sander that will smooth it out and make it a little more comfortable. Your thumbhole should be just a smidgeon too big, because, after we start bowling and get warmed up, our fingers swell. There is tape you can insert into your ball as well for a smoother release or to tighten up your thumbhole if need be. In the meantime, if you still want to bowl, with your boo-boos, there is a special 'glue' called 'Nu-Skin'. There are little mesh pads you cover your sores up with and cover with a substance that can only be described as super glue. Hurts like heck to rip that sucker off, and burns like acid putting it on, but in between those pains, you'll be able to bowl without pain. If you'd like anymore advice, feel free to email me. Order beer first. Cool moisture from the bottle will keep your digits softer.

Well a lot depends on if its a fingertip ball or if it is a regular ball. If its a fingertip ball try bending your thumb back away from your fingers and grip the ball with the knuckle of your thumb that always worked for me. but other than that you just have to keep bowling and build a callus on your thumb it takes awhile and u do get a few blisters but if u keep at it itll be all good.
