Help remembering cheers for cheerleading anyone?
-
I made the cheerleading JV squad, but I learn the cheers at a slower pace than most. They also said that when I was basing, I was lifting then lowering my arms, and then lifting into the elevator. So I dropped my arms before I lifted them. This is my first year cheering, and all of the others have cheered before besides one. I need tips on REMEMBERING CHEERS AND LEARNING THEM FASTER, and on BASING. ;)-kthnx.

i remember cheers by making a sheet of paper with all of them on it, then go home and work on one cheer at a time. to learn them faster son't get frustdrated and ask to repeat the actions/words. another way that really works is learning part by part. like begining, then middle, then beginning and middle and so on and so on. you probably dropped your arms before you lifted them to their full height is because weak wrists, i say tape them up and stretch them regularly i have to tape my wrists and wear an ankle brace on my right ankle when basing and flying just because they are weak and sprain easily stretch a lot so you dont sprain and i hope this stuff i wrote helps!!!! I don't quite understand what you mean by lifting and lowering your arms during stunts, but if it's what i think, and you do it when it's first going up, you're right and they are wrong, you're suppose to raise an elevator above your head and settle down into it. Get with some girls and practice cheers as much as you can, if it helps, tap it out to a rhythm as if it was a piece of music, everything is to 8 counts, so split it into measures in your head, or even write it down as if it was.

I know for me being able to learn faster means i need to pay attention. I am super quick at learning and have a 9/10 memory! Normally I just focus on the person talking i don't pay attention to anyone else. I've had to learn to ask questions. If you are good cheerleader you'll get it! If you don't understand a motion ask!! As for basing i am a base and have based some pretty advanced stunts. I am the secondary base since i am taller. I bend with the main base catch the foot and turn my hands to their position in the process. Just practice on your own not dipping your hands. Match the base across from you. Watch their hands and KEEP EYE CONTACT! That's my big tip!!!! GOOD LUCK! Cheer is so amazing!!

try to remember them like song lyrics. put your own beat to them and 'sing' them in your head. sounds dumb, but it helped me! check out my question! http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Atpfr.bh0aJcKKf_DshOppl0xQt.;_ylv=3?qid=20080708121733AA0zZM4
